Anti-Wii Stamp

I used to like the Wii. I even admit that there are some decent games on it. But what I can't understand are a few things...

1) Why it still sells so much. *Then I remind myself of Nintendo's bullshit marketing and the idea that people will be playing all the games they buy for the Wii 2-3 years later and all the releases that are 1st party*

2) Who actually continues to play it? As far as those who bought it the first day it came out, many gamers I've spoken to on anonymous boards have said things like "It just collects dust now, I've sorta just bought a 360 to play other games that are more fun to keep me occupied longer." or "It was fun for awhile, and the attraction of the Wii-mote was there, but it's just died off quickly."

3) Why continue to market towards casual gamers; literally saying "Fuck off" to 90% of the Nintendo fanbase...which are HARDCORE GAMERS that grew up with Nintendo and are the very reason most of their profits come in and why people continue to defend them.

Fact: Casual gamers eventually become more interested into games and many, if not all, become hardcore gamers in ANY sense of the word. Alienating this group just makes you look like an oblivious, stupid cock.

Fact: Hardcore gamers are the only reason games like Mario, Zelda, F-Zero, Kirby, Smash Bros, Metroid, and unique, new titles like No More Heroes and De Blob come out. It is ONLY because of this group. If you don't give them anything more to come back for then you're just saying "Well you guys have what you want and nothing more right? We're going to go please the rest of the guys who just want shovelware and party games because we all know how everyone has time to have PARTIES ALL THE TIME IN FRONT OF THE TV."

Thus, I am glad I am able to stick with a solid system like the Xbox 360 that offers, to me, and many other gamers, so much more than just another pushed Gamecube-wannabe.

The PS3 needs to gain some more steam after being out for 2 years; we can only hope. The price is what's killing it, but they really just need more KILLER APPS. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet aren't enough to attract the people Sony...give us moar!
